Many different companies offer website hosting, whether it is a multinational internet giant, or a small web design agency with a couple of servers. You never can tell what kind of hosting service you will get without looking into it further, so here are some things to look out for:

  • Frequency of backups. If the company takes regular backups, they should tell you as this is usually a key selling point. If they don’t offer up this information, then you can safely assume they aren’t going to be offering it.
  • Security. You need to know that the company is offering you a secure service. Ask where their servers are located and how well protected they are against theft and damage.
  • Look out for high costs. Hosting alone, as an individual service, really shouldn’t cost all that much. If a price seems very high, it should begin to ring some alarm bells.
